General Info

Located at 1635 Park St, Alameda, CA 94501, United States, Chong Qing Noodles House is the kind of neighborhood Chinese restaurant that quietly earns loyal fans through flavor, consistency, and comfort. Walking in, the space feels relaxed and welcoming, with a casual diner vibe that makes it easy to settle in, glance over the menu, and start planning what to order first.

The menu focuses on bold, traditional flavors inspired by Chongqing-style cooking. One of the standout dishes is the beef handcut noodles in clear soup (清汤牛肉刀削面). The noodles have a satisfying chew, and the broth is clean yet deeply savory, letting the beef shine without being heavy. It’s the kind of bowl that feels both hearty and soothing, especially on a cool Alameda afternoon.

For those who love heat, the wonton with spicy chili oil (红油抄手) delivers a punch of flavor without overwhelming the palate. The chili oil brings warmth and aroma, while the wontons stay tender and well-balanced. Chong Qing Street Noodles are another favorite, offering layers of spice, texture, and umami that reflect classic street-style comfort food. These dishes make it clear why reviews often highlight the restaurant’s ability to balance intensity with approachability.

Beyond noodles, Sichuan Bean Jelly adds a refreshing contrast with its silky texture and gentle numbing spice. Pair that with a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup, and the meal starts to feel thoughtfully rounded, with each dish playing a role rather than competing for attention. Everything arrives with a sense of intention, as if the kitchen knows exactly what experience it wants to deliver.

Service here is straightforward and attentive, with table service that keeps things smooth without feeling rushed. The restaurant accepts reservations, which is helpful during busy hours, and alcohol is available for those who want to enjoy a drink alongside their meal. Parking is practical too, with both free of charge street parking and paid street parking options nearby, making visits easy whether you’re local or just exploring the area.

Overall, Chong Qing Noodles House fits naturally into Alameda’s dining scene, offering a dependable spot for comforting Chinese food, memorable flavors, and an experience that feels genuine from the first bite to the last.

What customers say?

“ Got the spicy beef noodle soup + century egg on tofu. Also got dumplings in chili oil on the side. The food hit just right and I definitely think this place is a hidden gem. They got the perfect chew on the knife-cut noodles and the owner's decades of practice definitely can be tasted from the flavorful broth. Mind you, most noodle shops around town have a very bland or run-of-the-mill broth, but they take their time here to make it right. The owner is also very cordial and offered free vegetables when I said I love eating bok choy. Definitely would recommend checking this place out! ”

“ The service was unmatched. The staff was so kind. They saw us with our little one and offered us a little bowl of dumplings on the side. The quality of the Taiwan beef noodles was flavorful and packed with a beautiful balance of noodles and meat. It was a tad bit oily but its nothing unexpected. Their spicy wontons were also really tasty, especially with the vinegar and chili. Overall, the quality and portions were respectable. ”

“ Their beef noodle soup with the hand made noodles is delicious. I happy I finally tried this place and it’s so close to me. The wonton in chili oil is also delicious. The food is fantastic. ”

“ A hidden GEM! The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful - all hand made noodles, dumplings - everything from scratch. The owner Monica let me try her delicious cucumber salad and beef. She was so warm and personable, her family has been in the restaurant business for years. I’m surprised this place isn’t constantly packed. She even customized my soup to make it spicy I found a new staple spot and will be bringing my family here! ”

“ This place is tucked away on Park Street and is definitely a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves no-frills Chinese food. The atmosphere is quiet and casual, making it a comfortable spot for a low-key meal. One of the must-haves to order here is the cucumber salad. We also tried the zhajiangmian and the braised pork over rice bowl, both of which were very tasty with a lot of flavor. What I appreciated most was the portion sizes; they're satisfying without leaving you overly full. The service was really good, with staff who are very helpful in guiding you through the menu. The restaurant recently changed ownership, which seems to have improved the overall experience. The pricing is very affordable, especially given how expensive eating out has become these days – this place offers the best value. I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal while craving Chinese food. A few things to note: street parking is the easiest option in the neighborhood ”

“ This place is absolutely delicious, waitress gave us recommendations and told us what was good, and she was completely right. The Taiwanese braised beef noodle soup had extremely tender beef and was absolutely delicious. The star of the show was definitely the noodles though, they were fresh and chewy. Absolutely delicious ”

“ Overall 6/10 (where 5 is average and 10 is the best meal I've ever had) I got the Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles and a Fried Tofu. Unfortunately the grill wasn't on for skewers (I dined early before dinner rush). Pickled Vegetables and Shredded Pork soup noodles - Broth wasn't that flavorful and looked and tasted a little like boiled dumpling water (which isn't necessarily bad). There was a lot of sesame oil and was too salty - Noodle texture was the saving quality. Great chew. Fried Tofu - There was a lot of tofu in each piece which was great. - It wasn't seasoned well. Quite plain; there was a sort of sweet soy oil at the bottom of the plate but being that it's fried tofu, it wasn't a great mix. ”

“ My wife was out of town and the kids were with the Grandparents and I had a craving for Chinese Soup Noodles, so after researching I decided to visit Chong Qing Noodle House. The restaurant is no frills, almost having diner vibes to it. Service is very friendly and responsive… Now to the food… I ordered the Crushed Cucumber with Garlic to start and the Pickled Veggies Shredded Pork Noodles with Medium spice. The Cucumbers are a 10! So good and would triple order it. The noodles are a solid 9! The noodles you can tell are freshly made and the broth is solid. The spice covers up a lot of the taste, which is a bit of a shame because on its own I think it would be very good. I’ll be coming back to try other offerings as the food is authentic and tasty! ”
